Unity CommonsAt the moment, we are not scheduling shift volunteers due to COVID safety requirements. However, we have great need of meal donations to support our shelter guests. Meals are for 30 or 60 guests, and can be safely homemade or ordered from a local restaurant. Please click the button below to see availability.
What Volunteers DoOur volunteers primarily support our staff, assist with guests needs, cleaning, laundry, making coffee, organizing, occasionally running errands, and being available to meet our guests and get to know them. Though we have suspended shift volunteering at the shelter due to COVID-19, there are times that we need extra support to operate additional emergency shelter beds. Check out our Hazardous Weather Volunteer Trainings for more information!

Hazardous Weather Volunteer TrainingMonthly volunteer trainings are here! Every first Saturday!
Hazardous weather events primarily happen in the summer and winter seasons. These events are called when temperatures or conditions outside become life threatening and hazardous weather volunteers help us provide services and safety to individuals experiencing homelessness. Hazardous weather events are often announced with short notice and may include volunteer activities like donation coordinating or sorting, dayroom monitoring, meal preparation or distribution, or specialized services. These trainings are held in person every first Saturday of the month. Additional information about trainings will be sent to those who have expressed interest. |
